Hydraulic Power Unit Repair, Refurbishment & Fabrication

Hydraulic power units (HPUs) are integral components in a wide range of machinery and systems where force and motion control are critical. Essentially, an HPU is a system that converts mechanical energy into hydraulic (fluid) energy, which can then be used to perform work through hydraulic actuators like cylinders, motors, or rotary actuators.

At the heart of an HPU is the hydraulic pump, which can be gear, vane, or piston type, depending on the requirement for pressure, flow rate, and efficiency. The pump draws hydraulic fluid from a reservoir, pressurizes it, and sends it into the system. The pressurized fluid then moves through hydraulic lines to various actuators where it exerts force to move or hold loads. Control valves direct and regulate this flow, ensuring precision in operation, while filters keep the system clean by removing contaminants. Finally, after performing work, the fluid returns to the reservoir, often passing through a cooler to dissipate heat generated during operation.

Components

  • Reservoir: Holds the hydraulic fluid, allowing for fluid expansion, and facilitates de-aeration.
  • Pump: Converts mechanical power into hydraulic power.
  • Motor: Typically electric or in some cases, internal combustion engines, drives the pump.
  • Valves: Control direction, pressure, and flow of the fluid.
  • Actuators: Convert hydraulic energy back into mechanical work.
  • Filtration System: Ensures the cleanliness of the fluid to prevent wear and tear.
  • Cooling System: Manages the temperature of the hydraulic fluid.
